These are Mari's parents, Maria and Motoki. In the Bella Mariposa: Bell Flowers series, they are also Miele's parents. In the children's book Mari and Miele are sisters. It adds a nice dynamic that I wanted to explore in that series that doesn't exist in the canon series. The children's books aren't canon in the relationship respects, except that Maria and Motoki are Mari's parent's in canon as well.

Anyway!

Mari gets her looks from her mother, but she gets her adventurous spirit from her father. Maria is much more docile by comparison, while Motoki is a little more curious and daring. But, that's why they make a great couple. Opposites attract and complete each other.

PS: I accidentally cut off their antennae when I cropped the image for coloring and I just didn't go back and put them in. But, they look like Mari's. ^__^ Also, Maria's look is finalized, but I'm not completely satisfied with Motoki. So, don't be surprised if I upload another version of him in the future sporting a different look. ...I'm so indecisive with him ^^;
