I guess they didn't want the stone (granite? definitely not marble) floor scratched? It looked like a rather new building...

Ah yeah they'll do that sometimes, they don't allow trolleys in the refurbished lifts at our office block, you have to take the goods lift.
Sorry Big Ben was all scaffolded up :(

Big Ben started going through refurbing work some time ago. No idea when they intend to be finished, but they at least let it chime during new years
