a sneek peek at how i make heads.
My heads are built on base ball hats with the brim partially removed. They are adjustable and thus are one size fits all and very comfortable as only the hat touches your head allowing airflow in the mask and keeps the mask from soaking up sweat.
This is also less claustrophobic than other mask designs which tend to be a very snug fit entirely around ones head. i got a used head from some one else for my sister (it was an ACD and she is obsessed) and it was built on a balacava like most heads...it effing freaked me out to put that head on D: it made me feel clautrophobic in there and having it touching my ears and neck and AHHHHH! i mean holy shit i could not stand it! i cut out the balacava and mounted it on a hat, now it is fine.
and lol you can see my rinky dink head stand, it is a styrofoam wig head padded with foam and wrapped in duct tape so that it is a 25 inch head (which is huge, most people are 22) and glued to an upside down terracotta pot for a neck and also as a counter weight.

Built on a baseball hat? Thats a rather innovative idea. What happens if the front of the head is a little heavy? Wont that pull the mask down? I'd think it would make it a bit hard to get a mobile jaw to work too. But since you somehow get that to work I'm curious as to how that all goes down.
for the most part sliding forward is not an issue as i use light weight materials. it is an issue on my beastcub as she has large solid plastic eyes, antlers, and teeth made not with the super light paper clay i use now....BUT all i do is put the velcro strap under my pony tail and it keeps the head from sliding forward, that is why she has a "mane" on the back of her head as i used wig hair to hide my pony tail rather than have my hair under the neck.
That's a interesting method. I see so many suggest the ski mask thing, your the first I've seen not try that and go with a hat of some kind. Actually looks pretty easy and time saving even.
I'm a bit nosy but wouldn't it be difficult to put moving jaws on such a design though? I've seen folks explain how a ski mask works well with them but wouldn't you still have to have something on the face so it still moves along with the person's jaw?

it works PERFECTLY with glasses, just be sure to put a fan in the muzzle (cpu fan rigged on a battery pack is perfect) to keep your glasses from fogging (I wear glasses)
any of my heads can be modded to fit glasses by padding the iside of the forehead area of the hat BUT it is best to build for galsses by having the eyes built further from the wearers face to leave room for the glasses.
