This one looks like liquid crystal display. It is posibble for them to give picture, because light goes from behind. Rows and collumns work independently, so it still gives picture. TVs on YCH look like they have vacuum tubes inside. If the screen would by damaged air would go inside and screen would be dark unless it didn't implode.
