One of two example pieces I'm working up for my pet portrait signage, business cards etc.... I go there everyday and can't always bring my furry work for OBVIOUS reasons so this is a good way for me to make some money so that, ultimately, I can spend more time on comics.
I haven't done watercolor portraiture since high school (over a decade now) and was surprised I could actually do it this well since this isn't really how I normally draw. Kinda surprised myself in a good way!
In case you're curious here are the two other example pieces I worked up (And, yes, some people at the dog park have lucked into free portraits due to this): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/31492059/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/31525029/

Hope pet portraits proves to be a lucrative gig for you.
Seems to me I saw an article years ago about a photographer who did only animal portraits and operated out of their own studio. Naturally, this was in Los Angeles. You have to be in a megalopolis for a niche business to flourish.
I even read an article in Smithsonian Magazine which listed a book store which sold ONLY 1st edition mystery novels.

You deserve every success in this new venture. Pet portraits can often be so banal and generic, especially when they're basically copied from photos; yours, by contrast, seem to capture the spirit of each subject with a unfailing aesthetic touch. Beautiful work on this watercolour.
