Thank you! This piece took me part of a semester in college to do. I don't know exactly how long since I was taking other classes at the time besides stained glass.
The symbols on this piece as well as the Taurus piece are in flash glass. The flash glass in this piece is blue on clear. It's basically a clear glass with a layer of blue glass (there are other colors available).
I used contact paper and an acid bath. The symbols were cut and the contact paper removed so the colored portion of the glass was exposed to the acid for only the symbols. I then gowned/gloved up, immersed the piece in the acid and monitored the piece, occasionally brushing the acid eaten remains from the opening in the contact paper. When I was happy with the acid etching I removed the piece from the bath and rinsed it in cold running water.
It's neat but the acid is very dangerous if mishandled (it's a very strong acid as it eats glass!). When I have a better studio space I may start doing flashing again.
