So this is a brand-new piece of traditional art I thonked up after listening to the song "Rockefeller Street" over the course of its release. From the very first listen, my imagination took a special liking to the song, unmistakably labeling it as a clear "raving in Manhattan" theme. Since becoming a Furry, I've begun building a fitting character, theme, process, (etc.) of the potential visuals behind the song; in short, I've made a music video in my head.
This drawing was simply me attempting to pull a snapshot of that video through the void of the intangible and into the reality of the present. And, well... I did alright.
As usual, I perceived much greater potential for this picture than it generally played out to be. My entire color pallet's too dark and gloomy for the intended mood, I drew the reference of the Rockefeller Center slightly incorrect, and I got cocky and used my pigment-based black for the outlines... It smeared evenly with my Prismacolors — it's quite convenient how the smoothest blends happen when I don't want them to — throughout the picture, ultimately leading to the underexposed pallet. I also could've scaled her up a bit more.
But hey, I actually am impressed with the dynamic pose I designed for this raver girl, as it captures more energy than I foresaw it doing in the sketch... A rare occurrence.
