Although the plot was extremely exaggerated, I love the character interaction.
Riolu was terrified for his life while Mawile used his fear like the predator she is.
When Riolu was starting to feel empathy towards Mawile after seeing everyone he cared about just die I was skeptical. But then when it was revealed Mawile used attraction to manipulate Riolu it got me hooked back to the story. When Mawile was thinking all she wanted was a friend to then suddenly double down was realistic. Choosing gluten over self awareness really shows she is stubborn and that she doesn't have much of a moral compass. Overall the characters were good, but the plot was lacking.

(In my opinion) I think the story should have gone like this. Riolu and eevee went looking for a missing pokemon in a dungeon. They instead found Mawile who fooled them both and ate eevee. Riolu, frozen in fear, couldn't do anything, which Mawile used to her advantage. Telling Riolu to get her more food or he would be next, in which he takes Mawile to the guild, expecting the others to help.But Mawile was a high level pokemon, she easily took on the whole guild by herself and then ate them all. Riolu could do nothing but whimper in the back, regretting his decision. . Not wanting to be wanted pokemon Mawwile was preparing to leave. She was about to eat Riolu but then had a change of plans when she felt pity for him. Mawile made Riolu travel with her dragging him deep in the forest away from civilization. Mawile was using attraction the whole time they were traveling, making Riolu fall deeply in love with her. Riolu had lost the feelings of loss and fear, all he could feel is love for Mawile and her bellie. Mawile had managed to control Riolu making him a permanent companion. They would travel through the forest catching unlucky pokemon that would crows their way.

This would be a good origin story for a character
