And yes, he misses his mother...wait..wasn't the little guy petrified, til the sword tried to send a dragon to attack them? How'd that happen?

well if he's a 10 day old hatchy that's about right. He's small for a dragon, and tiny for a millennial dragon, but dragons are almost fully functional predators at birth. Also most dragon parents will leave the babies near birth because no need to take care of them they can handle themselves. In another 45 years or so he'll be able to talk and such either with mouth or magic.
