Lansing Portrait Sketch

I jump around a lot with styles because I never seem to be fully satisfied with the outcome. The trouble being that I never spend enough time to get good at any of them.
So I’ve been throwing around the idea of just opening up and doing dedicated watercolor sketches so I can work towards being better at digital watercolor. They’re much quicker and rougher than full rendering, but they still have a nice charm to them (to me at least).
It would mean more time sketching and hopefully improving at the basics and less time just doing pixel pushing over flawed line art.
So this is sort of a demo of what I’ll be trying to do I guess, if anyone ends up being interested. Just simple sketching, shading, and coloring, playing around with color palettes and line texture to try and get better at capturing character, form, proportions, etc.
I’ll probably put up a journal soon with just an open call for requests if anyone wants their character drawn.
