Just in time for the SoonerCon convention this coming weekend, I present the fifth in the Shadowgorge series!
I wanted to try a completely different color scheme for this dragon, while still keeping the essential design elements of the previous pieces. I have this surf-and-turf color scheme going on here that I really like - and the tricky bit turned out to be the moons. I didn't want them to overpower the electric blues and greens of the dragon, so they had to be quite a lot darker than in earlier pieces. I really like the effect now that it's complete. I had my doubts as I was working - I kept going darker and darker, until I could get the dragon's teeth and tongue to pop out against the lunar bodies.

Fantastic palette on this one! The colors and the pattern near the fringes of the wings reminded me of aquatic plants at first glance so the surf-and-turf scheme really came across haha. It's also interesting seeing a rare muted background background in one of your pieces, it certainly makes the greens pop and gives me the impression that there might be some bioluminescence going on!
