Gift for Local rabbit parent
My friend in town's co-worker had a rabbit cross over the bridge, so she asked for a card. I made a few options overnight rush but my own rabbit was being a terror (because it was well past bedtime and she wanted lights off and routine.) I ended up with this one somewhere in the AM and didn't scan it so its a phone doctored snap I took in bad light before hitting the hay.

Thanks! I managed to complete a color one but it came out not so great because of miss fussy. I usually never work after 7-8 and if "burning midnight oil" its not that late. Once it hits a point and its not cuddles on the floor its nips and getting into everything/tantrums because she sleeps on the couch futon in the art room up at the window sill and wants to go to bed but will stay up with me
The person's other rabbit is very sad still even though its been some time. That would be the hardest to see for me as a rabbit person. I don't know if they are going to get them another friend or not.

On fb a local was posting they were going to foster a bunny, and they were looking for a free cage. Someone offered them a rusty hutch (its always something that needs to go to the dump and should have never had an animal in it in the first place) and I got rabbit triggered haha.
I sent them all sorts of info on rabbit care, how to make a house set up with an x-pen, and if not, how to convert a free on craigslist dresser of furnishing into a place for the baby to sleep (it is a wee one) or to ziptie modules together. They were kinda, uh, shitty about it. Saying they didn't want to spend money and I was like LOL so are you aware of the costs at all for a rabbit, hay, ratio of not garbage pellet, what babies should eat over an adult, and if they can't afford at max 30-50 for a safe indoor enclosure (foxes, cougars, big birds, snakes, over 85 degree weather) they should surrender the rabbit to someone that can. I used to rescue, it seems like to most local one in auburn is dead and the 4h rabbits as unsocial/neglected rabbits (or meat) is a thing still out here. I don't have the energy to start up one, or a way to drive and help out at the shelter here, but be damned I turn looney and start handing out the facts asap XD

And that's why my friend ends up rescuing buns, and why there are so many bunny rescue groups. People don't realize the specialized diet and care that go into bunnies. It's not really difficult or anything, but it does take a certain amount of resources, knowledge and dedication.
When my mom was a kid, in the 30s and 40s in Illinois, and poor, they raised bunnies for food, but funny enough they didn't really talk about the food part of it. I guess even at that point it was hard to acknowledge that they were eating their cute friends...
