Canis Umbris Aetheris, or The Æthieer, as they are officially called, are also known as Ink Wolves and Æther Wolves. In the distant past, a large pack of cerberen wolves were accidentally pulled from their home to the ethereal plane. The plane heavily mutated the pack. Gone were there two heads and gems on their chests. In their place they gain two forms. One night form and one day form. Due to the effects of the ethereal plane, they can become noncorporeal at will.

All Æthieer have the ability to go between the ethereal plane and the material plane at will.

Diet: Æthieer gain their energy from being on the ethereal plane. Should they be elsewhere, they can instead eat food or absorb light or darkness.

Appearance: Their day form is pure white aside from their long wiry ethereal tails, their toes, the upper half of their ears and their neck which tend to be black or fade to black. They have black lips and a black nose. Their eyes are completely black and have trails of ink like ethereal tears. These tears gained them the racial nickname of Ink Wolf.

Their night form is solid black aside from their glowing white eyes. Their chests, neck, belly, and paws gain some longer wiry ethereal hairs.
In either form their vision, along with their hearing, sense of smell, and intelligence are still on par with their cerberen cousins.

Though their appearance look nearly identical to each other to non Æthieer, their vision sees more of the EM spectrum than most races can see and can see into the ultraviolet and infrared. Their pattern style is usually inherited from their father but mixes between mother and father are possible. For example the father could have a vine like pattern while their mother could have a spike like pattern. The child could end up with a pattern looking like a vine with thorns.

This allows them to see fur patterns that are unique to each Æthieer. These patterns in both their day and night form can only be seen by other æthieer, under UV lights or by those that can see into the UV part of the EM spectrum. The markings glow similar to their eyes and reproductive parts while they are in their night form though this is also outside the visible spectrum for most races.

The Æther Dragons: Similar to how their cousins are bound from birth to their Chimeran partners, at birth æthieer children are bound to their life long æther dragon partner. An æther dragon is able to change their size at will, allowing them to follow their partner into small structures. Their power remains unchanged. They are able to use light and dark magic. Though they don't have wings, they are capable of extended flight.

Lifespan: As long as they return to the ethereal plane as needed, they have really long lives measuring in the thousands of years. They have a high resistance to physical damage but are susceptible to magical effects.

Names: Æthieer naming goes as follows: first name, family name, and town name. One example would be Diana Wildrose Darklight. Those directly descended from the family that founded the town only have one last name. Like Artemis Darklight. He is the son of the current town leaders.

All last names of the Æthieer are taken after the clan or pack they are in. The largest and oldest is the Darklight clan. Unless they move to another Æthieer town, they keep the town name of the town they were born in when traveling abroad.

Religion: Æthieer follow Keir (god of darkness and night), Vessperiya (goddess of light and day), as well as Fenrir, the god of wolves and his mate Ligeya, the goddess of wolves.

They see Fenrir and Ligeya as their primary gods with Keir and Vessperiya as the gods of their innate light and dark magic power and creators of the Æther dragons.

Reproduction: Male Æthieer penises in their day form are solid black and canine in shape so they have knots. They are usually bigger than normal canines.
In their night form their penis and their cum have a soft white glow.
Female Æthieer's vaginas are similar to canines. Their day form it is solid black. In their night form it glows a soft white as well. When they are in heat, in their night form it glows a brighter white.

Hermaphroditic Æthieer are fairly common as the species they evolved from were all hermaphrodites

Aether Lotus: flower found on the ethereal plane mutated from the Lunar Rose. When the petals are dried and ground to powder, it has a similar effect to marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms. Æthieer do not gain a tolerance when using this so only a little is needed. Used for rituals and recreationally. The drugs effect is usually stronger and lasts longer on non æthieer.

Homeworld: Æthys. Orbiting twin stars called Estragos and Valterion. Æthys is unique in that it is a planet split between two dimensions. This can make it difficult for visitors since a town be in both dimensions at once. This gives the æthieer unique abilities.
