I just figured I'd get this mostly finished and posted. I wanted it to be done! It's been sitting in my files for ages, waiting to be inked and given dialogue. Older artwork but whatever. It's decent enough, I guess.
As you can see, it lacks colors. Why? Because it'd be a pain in the butt to try with a mouse. More time consuming than it'd be worth, even to just flat color it.
I'll add color eventually once I get a new stylus for my tablet, or a new tablet...
Meanwhile, enjoy the crap-tastic goodness!

Rats with nonpliable DNA? Well that can't be the answer otherwise all those lab rats out there are lies.
Random out loud speculation says that it's because he's a Fursona rather than an avatar or character. I know, it doesn't make much sense at first, but this all started as a artistically visualized chat room so we're already dealing with character aware characters here. Besides, I'm a reader/writer of the NeS. My brain roles in the direction where the plot and metaplot are one.
In any case, good artwork Red, even if it is uncolored. In some ways I can't wait to see what actually happens, but of course I know that I must. Here's hoping he gives you a stick to bite down on before inserting that thing... somewhere.

Meta story... how to describe the meta story....
To start off, meta story is based off the term meta game. Meta game is the parts of any game that is concerned with stats, mechanics, and getting the best combination of the two. Meta story in the same sense deals less with actual story, but with the choices of the writer/artist.
Meta Story and Plot Story can intersect in several ways. Anytime a character has expressed self awareness of being in a story is one. More subtle uses of the Meta Story taking a role in the Plot Story can be found in two of the works of Graveyard Greg: Gaming Guardians and Dungeon Denizens. The NeS, an interactive story I participate in, is an exaggerated example with the Meta Story and Plot Story becoming one and the same.
This comic prepped my brain to think of the characters in the terms of the Meta Story. You begin by sitting at your desk in your human persona, joining a chat room. The scene transition then shows your fursona in an artistic rendering of the chat room as an actual room, including the robot giving it's automated message.
Even if we dismiss any assumptions on fursona or avatar distinction, Red and Grey are interacting less as characters who are a part of an immersive world and more as characters who are proxies for their players/writers/artists. The entire course of events are happening because you, Red, are concerned with your expressed powerlevel in a game. Grey is helping not by suggesting a change of direction Red could take in the story, but instead by directly experimenting on Red to induce spectacular powers. A Meta Story concern is being treated with Plot Story methods.
Yes, I know. I'm putting far too much thought into this rather than enjoying the story, but analysis like this is part of how I enjoy stories. The fact that I voice such thoughts aloud should be more than enough proof I'm enjoying this.

Heh heh, well thanks. I think I see what you're getting at now. Yeah, I enjoyed the idea of drawing red in a chatroom like he's physically there. Honestly, these events *did* happen, but only in a chat room. I'm taking a bit of artistic license, however, since I don't have the actual chat logs, and since the chat logs would make the story longer anyways.
Glad you're enjoying the comic!

This is older artwork...okay. I can see that. Still doesn't make this any less good. Expressions are great, dialogue if funny, and I can't wait to see this in color (which I will).
So Red is very resistant... But luminescence isn't so bad. This time of year, with his usual green shirt, he'd be pretty festive...
That device looks wicked by the way. Hm... Igor! Fetch me this quarter's Mad Scientist Catalog! I know what I"M getting for Christmas!
