HEAD
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the head of the costume. If you are reviewing only a set of ears, your answers would also go in this section.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear this piece of your costume.
The head overall fits comfortably with decent ventilation with the wide mouth. It's snug, but not constricting. Vision is good, then again having come from a tear duct vision realistic suit, every toony suit has good vision compared to that. A zipper secures the back, which is easy enough to get in and out of most of the time, though occasionally it gets caught in the long hair it hides under.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume piece looks from the outside.
I was rather surprised by the quality of the head. Despite my reservations about the maker she actually somewhat exceed my expectations. The expression is bright and cheerful the muzzle and eye shape are fantastic and was very pleased with how she handled my hair. Fur quality is good with only minor unevenness on the shorter fur sections on the muzzle. The teeth and nose are also very nicely shaped, giving it a slight bit more realism than you'd expect from a toony suit in addition to the whiskers. It's not 100% perfect though. The ears, while looking great from the front are rather flat from the side. I would have preferred them to have a more 3D curved shape to them. Also I did request no air brushing to be used on the suit to minimize maintenance, but airbrushing was used anyway for the whisker and tear marks on the muzzle.
HANDS AND FEET
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the hands and feet of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
Hands wear overall fine with no surprises as does the arm sleeves. The feet paws are slightly big me, maybe a size too much though I've managed to work around that by wearing double socks. The leggings though are unwearable. They are far too narrow at the bottom for me to fit my legs through. She has offered to take them back however to fix this.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
Hands are overall fine. My character has no pads on their hands so the palms are quite plain. The black claws are nice and seem securely attached. The seem along the edge is visible but not a major factor to me.
The feet, I'm actually really surprised with how they look. The shape of the paw is well defined and symmetrical with each other. These quite exceeded my expectations
TAILS
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the tail(s) of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
Tail is worn with a double belt loops. They seem sturdy and securely sewn on and doesn't feel like it'll break any time soon.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
The tail is fine, pretty standard as fox tails go. It is a bit straight and stiff, I would have preferred a little bit more of a curl especially towards the tip but otherwise I have no complaints
OVERALL SATISFACTION
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with the overall buying experience, including your interactions with the maker and the resulting final product. How was your concept art realized?
Overall quality is pretty good with only minor misgivings. The one size too big paws, too narrow to fit leggings, flat ears, and unwanted airbrushing. These issues though are not deal breakers and I can either live with or amend in the future. All other pieces fit just fine and wear comfortably. Fur quality seems good, the build seems sturdy, and feels on par with other established fursuit makers.
How well does everything fit together and match up?
I was very pleased with how she managed to interpret my character and her style complements my own art style as well. Semi-toony makers are hard to find and they vary wildly in their style ratios, and I'd say hers is a sort of 70 to 30 toony/realism. I just wished the ears had more dimensionality to them, but in terms of looks that's my only real complaint.
How easy was it to initially contact the maker for a quote?
I already had a premade, realistic cheetah made by this maker I bought second hand from a friend. They were also a previous customer and had a positive experience according to them and recommended her to me when I was in the market to finally commission a suit of my own.
Initial contact was easy, though hints of her flightiness cropped up when it took her almost a week to send the form to fill out for a commission after requesting it.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take the maker to get back to you?
Her response time varies wildly, from back and forth conversation to over a month of silence despite multiple attempts to contact. Her methods of communication are very limited. Her Twitter has since been wiped and her Discord, despite her claiming she uses and checks it has been dark for months. She doesn't use Telegram, or FA notes. The only reliable way of contacting her is with email.
How satisfied are you with the professionalism and customer service and of the maker?
Even when I began to become temperamental due to silence and missed completion dates, she remained professional in tone, though it did seem like there would always be an excuse for the silence or missed dates. When she did update she'd sometimes claim photos were attached to the email, though nothing would be there. Multiple times she'd put WIP photos on her Instagram before sending them to me, or with the complete turn around set of pics, not send them to me at all. She also censors public criticism of her where she's able to.
How satisfied are you with how long your project took to complete?
I set my hard limit completion date as 2019 BLFC, but if possible 2019's Further Confusion would be desirable. Around November she said the suit would be finished by mid December of 2018 but during that whole month she went silent. Once January rolled around, her new estimate would be the week before I left for FC, but that too came and went with no suit. At this point I began to become very irritated with her and she set another completion date of the first week of February. That too was missed and I was about ready to give up on her, thinking I was going to be another burned customer. However, communication picked up again in March and visible progress was finally being made. I asked if it was possible for her to send the suit before April for a local convention and this time, she actually did. So technically, this also means she met her hard completion date before BLFC. I just wished she didn't over promise and set completion dates that she couldn't have met and gotten my hopes up.
Are you happy with the product you received?
With only minor issues, I'm very happy with the product I got. It seems on par with other fursuits at equivalent price range and her style seems to complement my own very well. Makers that can do semi-toony in a way I like are rare to come by. Honestly, seeing other people's reviews I was expecting to receive garbage, so maybe that's affecting my objectivity, but I can't deny how shocked and ecstatic I was once I got and put on the finished suit myself.
Describe your overall experience with this maker.
To be honest, I'm very conflicted about this maker. My experience at first seemed very similar to her other dissatisfied customers with her inconstant communication, over promised completion dates, and always excuses for both of them. On the other hand, the finished product I did get surprised and exceed my expectations, something few of her other customers seem to be able to say. I'm not sure if that's because I set my expectations low for her but others who have seen my suit said it looks great, so it's not just me looking through rose tinted glasses.
After receiving the suit and talking to her further it does feel like she's making a sincere effort to repair her public image and improve as a maker. For the time being it seems she's switching to being a premade maker only so you probably couldn't get a commission from her if you wanted to, but if in the future she does open up again, just be aware of her issues.
