A cheerful and enthusiastic champion--Tyson Bishop is a bright, enlivening ray of sunshine whose charisma and optimist heart set him apart.
Tyson Bishop was born to Beth and Luther Bishop in Ames, Iowa. Together, they also bore a daughter, Sasha. Tyson’s early life was marked with tragedy when his mother was killed in a car accident. Tyson and Sasha were four and two, respectively, when they lost their mother. Thankfully, four years later, his father eventually remarried an associate from work, a cacomistle named Kyla Martínez, and the couple had a son, Riley.
Ever the consummate troublemaker, Tyson always found himself far from the beaten path. The year his mother died, Tyson wandered from a campsite in a Fraser, Iowa, and met the person who would forever change his life for the better. She was a young girl—a four-year-old lynx named Daeja LaBrie. Daeja and her family lived in a secluded home deep within the confines of Barkley Memorial State Park. The moment these two children met, they became nearly inseparable. For the next four years, Tyson and Daeja were the best of friends. One day, shortly before they each turned eight, the two young friends found two curious items of unknown make inside an antiques shop in neighboring Boone, Iowa. The shop owner believed these two items, a crystal necklace and leather bracelet, belonged together as a set and told them such. In secret, they each purchased both items with the intent of having them serve as birthday gifts for the other.
Unfortunately, on the day they exchanged their gifts, calamity ensued. Daeja inadvertently tore away a protective seal from the bracelet’s underside, and with it gone, the two children were beset upon by demons summoned by the bracelet’s power. The demons chased Tyson and Daeja into Barkley, but as they fled, Tyson was overtaken and possessed by one of the pursuing demons. As the demon used Tyson’s body to stalk Daeja, Tyson’s foot slipped on a small loose rock and the boy struck his head on the way down. When he awoke, Tyson was welcomed by an amnesiac named Trace—an ermine of around eighteen—who then took it upon himself to rescue the young boy. The following night was fraught with grave peril as Tyson and his family were attacked by the other demon in reprisal. However, in an act of courage, Trace fiercely fought the demon and repelled its advances, destroying it. More shocking news was soon to come as the young boy awoke the next morning.
The raccoon soon learned that Daeja had all but disappeared. Not only that, but nobody seemed to remember her. His friends and parents couldn’t recall her, and every trace of her existence was erased from photographs. In effect, this made Tyson the sole keeper of memory. It wasn’t long until the raccoon concluded that, if he were to ever remove his bracelet, he would soon start to forget the lynx, as well.
For the next ten years, Trace acted like the boy’s surrogate older brother. However, the ermine was more ghost than anything else. Nobody else could see him or interact with him apart from Tyson. The summer before he was to attend school at Iowa State University, Tyson was kidnapped by a huntsman—a person who specializes in monster hunting—who sought to free him from his supposed demonic possession. Yes, in the end, the ermine was one of the very same demons who chased both children into the forest all those years ago. For his part, Trace had lost all memory of this one, destructive truth; and served as Tyson’s “guardian demon” in the ensuing years. During their escape from captivity, Tyson and Trace realized the truth, but nevertheless, reconciled. They’d since become family. Tyson forgave Trace, and the two began in earnest to seek the truth behind what happened ten years ago.
This led to his matriculation into Native Altars as an intern. Native Alters is not only a national defense firm focusing on the advancement of applied technology, it also preserves the homeland through research into the unexplained. Together with his other closest friends from childhood, Tyson now uses the incredible resources made available to research the paranormal and bring Daeja back home.
All praise should be directed at
fcsimba for all their hard work and effort! I know they poured an incredible amount of love into this character sheet, and I'm incredibly thankful for all that they've done. They always do such fabulous work bringing out the best in all my characters. Seeing Tyson come to life in this manner is absolutely stunning. I'm so thoroughly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with them in this capacity.
