This is my result of painting on Vinyl on my inflatable tire with Apple Barrel paint from Walmart. ($.50 / bottle!)

Since I completed painting here is what I have learned: You can see here that the black is already chipping off. However, I painted half the tread area with the vinyl relaxed, and half with the vinyl stretched. The stretched areas are the ones shedding the paint most. I am abusing the toy by overinflating it and deflating it, mashing it and skidding it on the carpet. So far the paint seems to hold up best on areas where the toy was deflated when the paint was applied.
I haven't had the opportunity to test this on any models yet, but I was reading about this paint in some RC hobby forums (where I got the idea to thin with windex) They are using it to paint bodies on RC vehicles. You may want to try this paint out on one of your Gundams and see how it works. If it covers well, it might be an excellent inexpensive hobby paint...
