[[NOT MY ART]]Of Dragons and Dracology: Essyx - Vol. I
I definitely consider myself lucky to come across so many interesting and amiable dragons in my journey across the planes. One such dragon I met was named Essyx, and he turned out to be a wonderfully interesting and unique dragon! The first major exception I know my readers might complain about is his lack of wings. A dragon can still be a dragon without wings! We shouldn't take such heavy prejudices into account for scientific and research purposes: indeed, while there is a factual connotation to all of my notes and findings, I merely present my studies in accordance with the personality and whims of the creature whom I am studying. If a gigantic, lumbering lizard capable of crushing one under paw or swallowing one whole wishes to be called a dragon, who are you to disagree? The term "dragon" has and always will apply to giant, scaly beasts, sometimes capable of flight, sometimes capable of breathing fire. It's not exactly the most accurate and clear-cut criteria, and one will often find that there are many purists (many of whom are other dragons, as they are prideful critters) will use it to try and elevate themselves above others. Regardless of what I or anyone else presents, I ask that my dear readers just keep an open mind throughout my documentation and notes!
In addition to being wingless, Essyx also possesses venom glands, similar to other reptilian creatures I have come across in my adventures. It is a highly corrosive and powerful agent, and able to dissolve the toughest of hides on other beasts. It likely aids with Essyx's ingestion of other animals (or people, meep!), and it is also capable of being spat out at great distances! A simple contraction of the venom gland and a quick lick of those handsome tusks is all that is needed to jump-start the elegant, erosive expectoration, and Essyx was seemingly pleased that I enjoyed so many demonstrations of his accuracy! Indeed, he was so pleased, he let me take a sample of his venom! I'm curious to find if there are any inherent magical properties of the mixture, and if not, what other practical uses it could have.
A lovely commission I purchased from
sixsydes -- please go check out his page and give him your love! He definitely deserves it! <3
This is going to be a longer series featuring the lovely Essyx -- we're going to get an in-depth look at him, I feel... :>
