This right here is why I love Seattle's Award-winning Woodland Park Zoo, and the lion exhibit in particular.
Not only is it an enormous space, but guests have the opportunity to get literally two feet away from these amazing animals.
Here, beautiful nine-year-old South African lioness Kalisa stares directly at a young girl, no more than five or six years old, who is just standing there in awe. I absolutely love the look on Kalisa's face, her expression seems to be one of compassion and understanding, as if she somehow knows she is looking at a small and defenseless human.
This girl will remember that moment for the rest of her life!
