It is a sad day for me as my oldest duck, Professor, passed away today.
the dates you see aren't his actual birthdate, but more of day of discovery for me.
Bio: Professor has been among the first ducks I have owned since moving to my new home in Idaho since 1998. He has been the father duck of many original ducks we have owned here and was the 2nd Alpha male.
The reason he was named Professor was because of his puff head that made him look like a scholar you see from the old days.
However as of the last four weeks, he was combating an infection and had to be cared for indoors. Just last night he developed bad nose bleeds which lead to me believing his infection was worse than before. Surprisingly he survived the night and lasted till the morning. He was still able to see me and breath for a while until I left him to be for about an hour where I found him cold.
He wouldn't have survived if I didn't come to his aid to bring him in from the cold and keep him warm with food and water on hand. He lasted another 4 weeks and it is sad for me to see him go after all this time.
RIP my dear Duck. *sobs*
