That's why I said "mythical hyena goddess." Amerait is more an ideal than a supernatural being. They don't have an organized religion, priestly class, canon, holy writ, or temples, but they do have fireside stories about great heroes, terrific battles, and wondrous pranks. Amerait, her consort Orthrus, and her daughter Krokutta figure in these stories.
They're kind of more like superheroes than gods.

In my story, "Marooned on Tashoo", the Mory don't have an organized religion, although they acknowledge a "Great Being" who created everything on Tashoo and the universe. Like the hyenas here, the Mory value strength, warrior prowess and honor (I pretty much stole these from the Klingons, but warriors would value these three ideals.) The Mory honor their dead by talking of these things about them prior to the next meal after their death in battle.
I figure that Crocutans are too full of themselves to need a god, but a legendary hero will suit them nicely. They don't pray to Amerait for victory, they invite her to partake in the victory feast after the battle (because Crocutans don't take prisoners.)
I have an appendix about "hyena religion" in Fred's Diary. Entry #50. https://www.crosstimecafe.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12085&start=60

I left off the time factor in the cartoon so Kathy wold believe that Mistress Jade still looked like she did when that photo was taken. It has a bearing on something that is going to happen later on in the story. If you notice, the Jade in the story is somewhat heavier-set than the Jade in the photo. She was probably in her late twenties when the photo was taken. In the story she's in her fifties.
Norman Rockwell's "No Swimming." He actually did a follow-up with the boys aged to older men, and the dog was much older, too.
