I remember watching the Silverwing animated series when I was a toddler. I also remember how disapointed I was when I learned that the bats look nothing like they do in the novels. They changed them from real-life bat species to sprakly bat-sonas. You couldn't tell that Goth, Marela and Shade were three differents species apprt from the size difference.
That being said, it doesn't mean I find the desings themselves to be bad... I actually think they are pretty cool. Its just the fact that they purposesly made them radically different from the originals that bugs me.
But Goth's desing's is so awesome, I just had to make a (semi) realistic version of it, even tho a real spectral bat (or any species of bat for that matter) would look nothing like that. I also took some freedom with the anatomy.
