During the height of the Lin Kuei, one of the oldest active members of the clan was the water-manipulating Hydro. Already in his late 40s, he was a stickler for the traditional methods that the Lin Kuei employed to dispatch their targets, shunning the advanced technology that younger members such as Cyrax and Sektor used. However, as he aged, he eventually had to admit that his body wasn’t as young as it used to be, so when he was told this ‘cyber initiative’ would help him, Hydro believed that he would be getting a new hip and visual corrections, only to find himself one of the first Cyber Lin Kuei.

After being executed by the later Cyber Initative models of Sektor and Cyrax, his body resided in the Netherrealm until Quan Chi found a use for him. The sorcerer needed to practice his spells required to pull Kuai Liang out of his metallic body, and thus Hydro was his test subject.

Successfully freed of the suit, he sadly remained unused by him and the other Revenents until Raiden managed to successfully couple his powers to Quan Chi’s magic. Because Liang and Hydro were revived in the same way, the latter was also freed of the spell, becoming a free man once more.
