Nine years ago on May 18th, 2010, the game 'Aleth Snake' came out. A psychological horror game by Remedy Studios, with a TV-style episodic format for the game's chapters, it has developed a cult following as well as a mini-sequel: "Aleth Snake's American Nightmare"
The story centered on the titular fictional famous author, Aleth Snake, on a vacation to Pacific Northwestern American town of Bright Falls, with his ungulate wife, Alma Snake. Before long, the beautiful gazelle disappears and the naga is left in the midst of a mystery that has haunted the town for decades. Forces both supernatural and mortal move against the beleaguered writer as he attempts to find his wife and discover the source of the errant pages of what appear to be a novel he doesn't remember writing.
To make matters worse, the impossible, horrible, terrifying contents of the pages start to come true all around him.
He had moved on to detective fiction, but it seems his horror-writing past is coming back to haunt him; the grisly subject matter he had shied away from years ago being brought to life throughout the town, its innocent populace twisted into vile monsters, possessed of darkness.
While fans of the game have been clamouring for more ever since the game's release, they have had to content themselves with small hints of in-world connections between 'Aleth Snake' and 'Quantum Shark,' the time-bending action game with the aquatic protagonist. Remedy's latest game, 'Web of Control' will come out later this year, with its intriguing look at an FBI-for-the-paranormal, featuring an arachnid protagonist. Details are already coming to light that all three game worlds are one and the same - and if not, there are sure to be at least hints or easter eggs!

[As if it wasn't clear, Alan Wake is one of my favourite games, if not THE favourite.]

Yes! In fact, I got that animated-pixelly Alan Wake / Aleth Snake icon last year around this time, and was then trying to see if I could insert the icon into an 'Aleth Snake' logo, while keeping it animated. That never happened, but due to my attempts, WhiteMantis gifted me with the poster/logo you see above! :}===<
It was a psychological thriller / horror game.
The story centered on the titular fictional famous author, Alan Wake, on a vacation to Pacific Northwestern American town of Bright Falls, with his wife Alice Wake. Before long, she disappears and Alan is left in the midst of a mystery that has haunted the town for decades. He wakes up in a car crash, and soon learns that it's been a week since he was last cognizant of the world, and the cabin where he was staying has vanished [the whole island it was on is gone, in fact], and so has Alice.
Forces both supernatural and mortal move against the beleaguered writer as he attempts to find his wife and discover the source of the errant pages of what appear to be a novel he doesn't remember writing.
To make matters worse, the impossible contents of the pages appear to be coming true all around him.

Ah! Alan Wake! Never played the game, but I caught my friend beating one of the parts and remember seeing the credits pop up with David Bowie's Space Oddity. Not sure how Space Oddity fits in with what you've detailed as the thematic of the game; probably was some writer/producer's favourite song or something. :P
Space Oddity kinda fits with the ending, but yes, it's probably also someone's fave. It also fits with the enigmatic character of 'Tom the Poet', who, in the game, is only seen in a deep sea suit that looks like a spacesuit: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/a.....20120219230817
Anyway, thanks for the fave! :}

Awesome alliteration, and an adept addition. (Also: did you spot the hidden visual in the water? And the fact that the reflection of the trees are shadowy figures? The thing in the water is perhaps more easily spotted in the original Alan Wake image: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3a/a.....d315d2ad7f.jpg )
I would absolutely recommend Alan Wake more than Dead Space. I love them both, and to be fair, DS has more compelling (or at least.. tighter) gameplay itself, but Alan Wake's got the better story. Of course AW's no slouch in terms of gameplay, either.
