That looks great, the pastel colours give it nice soft feeling + the brush texture in the background looks cool.
I'd say the community is mainly good here, but like every community it depends on the crowd you follow.
I'd also guess it's the same with most other art sharing sites like DeviantArt, SoFurry, etc.

yea! it's definitely like that on deviantart, I've kinda been wantin' to move to a new site, and I remembered I had an account on here for awhile now, so I think I'll start making use of it !
