But that is hillarious if someone say's "gay's are disgusting" but the same person is jerking off from lesbian porn

People are afraid of the unknown. When it first came to light, people believed it was weird.
Then it came to be known, if only a bit twisted, where they believed you weren't really a homosexual, just wrong gender (it kinda explained how in ancient times people made sense of things, you can't be a man loving another man, you must've been a woman!)
Then people were afraid again, but because being gay meant something was "wrong". A prosperous society is religious. It creates family. That we are going against what we are supposed to be, that it's a "choice" made by infidels.
What's even funnier, people grew to be afraid during early 20th century, during time of red scare. Sexuality was made more apparent, and even more so, in part of scare tactics which broke the foundations of our society, or something like that. It is essentially remnants of propaganda.
That said, as someone who has learned about homophobia in other countries, most of the time, people are actually either disgusted or disrespectful, rather than afraid. Homosexuality is treated as a weird kink you should be beat out off, like you do when the someone won't stop putting fingers in their mouths, or just shows your immaturity since you cannot possibly have good reason to like same sex, you just didn't try anything.
In the end, people are people, regardless of sexuality. Some people will probably never get it, so at least they should taught to tolerate.

Honestly, I don't think it's even that complicated. I think revulsion of homo relationships only happened pretty recently in history, like in the mid 1800s. And it happened due to a deliberate push from those who rule... coinciding with a whole slew of prudish religious movements. Before then, I think it was pretty much accepted as a normal fact of life. I still don't totally understand why homosexuality exists, but, being one myself, it definitely does, and everything works better if people just accept it... as long as no one's being indecent in public. Imo, sexuality and the intellectual world are just two completely different worlds, which have almost nothing to do with each other, and people should just keep them separate, regardless of orientation. We're like intellectual beings riding around in animal bodies, and, well, we just have to make do with what we've got. Everyone has their personal struggles, and it's good to just be sympathetic and understanding to each other :)
You're not wrong, though once again, I'd like to point out that there are those who feel homosexuality and other parts of LGBT+ to be disgusting and disrespectful. I came from Russia, where as gay man you'd be treated as a freak in some ways. Basically, how people here react to furries, that's how Russians are. They aren't afraid, as much as they don't understand it and most of the panic comes from the idea that "this is where our youth is going to right now!" And think kids will be misled by LGBT movement.
As for disrespected, I remember someone saying that in Japan, it's not seen as weird if you are young, but as you grow up, you either stop or take a job as a prostitute. There society is build upon idea of supporting that society itself, which is why problems like overworking and NEETs are so prevalent. Homosexuality, then, can be considered useless thus should be discarded cause you are not trying to strive for better society.
Being in FurAffinity for so long, I came to intimately understand just how illogical sexuality is, and how it is tied to a person. At this point, any claims of LGBT I can take at face value because of how much I've seen.
Personally though, the bigger problem is the...lowering amount of respect that LGBT seem to have, but that's whole other topic...
