So a day before the mushroom hunting trip i mentioned over in my journals, my mom mentioned that there were mallows growing in her yard. So basically I had to go over there and dig one up.
I had no idea how serious these goobers are about not coming out of the ground. You gotta have some respecc for these total sonsabitches.
To this day i have entirely no shitdamn idea how i got the root out of the ground in a single piece. Damn thing's gotta be over a foot long. I had to coil it a couple times at the bottom of the flowerpot. All I had on me to aid in yanking the damn thing was my dad's old pocket knife.
....Anyway, these things are completely edible and are also a good source of vitamins A and C, iron, magnesium, potassium, fiber, and I forget what else. From what I hear, the roots can be boiled for a meringue-ish substance and the leaves and stems produce an okra-esque thickening agent when cooked. And the flowers are super cute and I guess they'd make a decent tea filler or something.
Also i think they look nice in a lawn. I honestly don't get why people think so many weeds are actually ugly. Dandelions have always been a hell yeah in my book and these things are just so nice and unobtrusive
