Any shirt you can walk away from.
Ducktales is finally back from hiatus! Woo!
One thing the furry fandom has always been a safe space for is crushes. You can basically talk about whomever you were attracted to growing up, and you'll be met with understanding, if not agreement. It feels weird to talk about crushes on a non-furry pic, but the truth is I can't draw in the style of the cartoon, and I feel weirder trying to force a character into a particular style, so I decided to simply do something completely different.
At any rate, teh hubby has basically determined Launchpad McQuack was my first actual crush, based on convos we've had. Which...probably doesn't mean quite what most people associate with the term, but it certainly was fixation. And in retrospect, it's probably because he's adorable AND beefy. Cartoons back then (hell, even now) basically were not concerned with giving personalities to any muscular guy, let alone making them appealing. They're mostly cast as a villains, bullies, douches, or at least doofs. While LP was not... particularly swift, he was very good-natured and had an appreciable starring role in two separate series, rather than just being relegated to "henchman" or "neighbor". I often forced myself to watch a lot of bad cartoons because of the small chance of seeing a hunky guy in the background; whilst here, I didn't HAVE to wait for quick scenes.
The only problem is he is one of the most overdressed Disney characters ever. Darkwing Duck has more shirtless scenes than Launchpad, and DW doesn't even wear pants most of the time XP
So I, ahem, obviously set out to rectify that here, and started with what became the bottom right panel. Then I got to wondering HOW he got into that particular outfit, and came up with the additional small panels to explain it away. And I do have to credit being reminded recently of the shirt-ripping scene from Hot Shots 2.
I went with his current design, where he's got a modern outfit. Yesplsthx.
I feel like he should be aged up a few years, but eh, my first try at it.

Oh no, nothing could overshadow the Darkwing episode. :D Besides, I didn't even like Mark Beaks all bulked up like that, it didn't him. I much prefer him skinny. Plus I loved his earlier scene where he bypasses Scrooge's security system. That's the side of him I hope shows up more often.
People keep asking for a Darkwing reboot, so a fourth show is possible.
Biker Mice from Mars is the one that stands out since its Male leads were massive and didn't have shirts. Most of the others were short-lived syndicated shows, so it's hard to remember details unless I saw them again, which is unlikely.

Yeah, fingers crossed!
Haha, yes, that's a prime example. There were like a dozen TMNT rip-offs of muscular shirtless furries, and I've forgotten most of them too. One notable mention goes to the pilot episode for Battletoads. which was absolutely wretched, but had the bonus of General Slaughter being a significant influence in Tony Durham's initial design >.>

Hee! I never thought of it that way. I TOTALLY want to see him starring in a live-action Ducktales now.
Though I have to note, I've tried drawing a toony Chris Pratt before. It's extremely difficult, because he has naturally very small eyes, which are somehow always wide open when he's in Andy Dwyer mode. It's a strange concept.

Just like you two, I have so many crushes on anthro characters too. And I agree with you, Launchpad, as well as many other characters, are often overdressed and aren't see shirtless that often. Sometimes none at all. Therefore, it's up to us to fix those mistakes with fan art.
I love this idea of how he gradually loses his shirt. But soon realizes that 'hey, I look better without a shirt'. Never wear a shirt!

I can see how he'd be your first crush, AND come on, what's not to love about the big lug. Good hearted, good spirited, and all that packed protein~ He needs some more shirtless or less clothes scenes.
Why does no one depict the no shirt, with jacket look? It's sexy... and eye teasing~ Plus, he's a boot guy~ Even better >=3

Ah, the joys of growing up with no RL candidates for crushes -.- Yeah, but he had SO few. It's like Disney was actually TRYING to keep him fully clothed. Boxing ring, pajama, beach, pirate scenes...all with some kind of bloody shirt on!
Again, around here, the weather is all wrong for it, unfortunately.

Yeah... Actually same here. IRL wise, no one I had a crush on or was really attractive to soooo... Yup... Sure was and is a furry. ^.^;
THANK YOU, so I'm not the only one who thinks that. Only the skinny got to go around topless or wearing less clothes, but if you were hunky, nope.
True, though dry heat is a nice heat ;-3 Not too cold and fun to see some nice topless or low cut shirts on men >=3
