Earlier this month, I was rummaging through one of my boxes of clutter from the past, when I came across a photocopy of a drawing I'd made (Circa 1987) inside a special holiday greeting card I'd sent to animator/executive producer John Cawley - who goes by the nom de plume of 'The Mean Ol' Fox'.
Back in the 1980s, it was Cawley who invited me to join the Don Bluth Animation Fan Club. He was also a contributor to "Rowrbrazzle" in its infancy. Since he was into all things vulpine (and still is, BTW), I thought I'd draw a fox sleeping inside a Christmas stocking - with a message beneath it reading "Merry Foxmas!"
It was the rediscovery of this artwork that inspired me to seek out Mr. Cawley in Facebook (which I'd found, thankfully). And even though I'd used colored markers for the original image, I'd decided to revamp the artwork with my Paint.net program, and add new colors to it all. I liked the results so much, I'd decided to use smaller square versions as avatars for both "Fur Affinity" and my two Instant Messenger windows.
