Collines Verdes Pokédex #27: Enguardian.
In the history of Collines Verdes, there are many tales of woe and sadness. The same can be said of all countries, to be fair, but it isn't every day that a history of sad events leads to the rise of a fascinating, if unsettling, breed of Pokémon.
Enguardian is rumored to be the spirit of a long-dead swordsman from centuries long past, bound to this world in the training foil they once cherished. Found in moldering ruins, forgotten tombs and long-abandoned passageways, Enguardian is a haunting, spectral Ghost/Steel-type that appears as little more than an inert weapon at first. When disturbed, Enguardian drifts into the air and releases a resonant, chiming cry, not unlike the clattering of fencing foils engaged in sport, and the single eye-like crystal set into the hilt begins to glow.
It manipulates its surroundings with ghostly tendrils, giving it an almost squid-like quality, sometimes reinforced by the design of the foil itself. There are rumors of rarer forms, including Pirate-like cutlasses, likewise possessed of a haunting spirit.
Though not terribly aggressive, Enguardian does like to challenge Trainers and their 'Mon alike, seeking a worthy adversary. This may be the fighting spirit of the Pokémon itself, or it may be the desire of the long-dead fencer, looking for one final challenge worthy of their skill. Regardless of which is the case, if one manages to capture an Enguardian, either with normal means or via a Soul Ball, then they are sure to have a loyal and agile Pokémon joining their roster!
