Blacktail's Third trip to the Boonies! (Part 31)
Here's a view to the North-East of where I was standing at the first stop (the last photo faced the North-West).
These are the White Mountains, which are on the North-East side of the Owens Valley (which, let's recall, is a "Graben" --- NOT a valley!). It's a rather ironic mane for a mountain range that isn't white, and never gets NEARLY as much snow as the Sierra Nevada on the other side of Owens Valley.
I'm not sure if these are Ingneous or Metamorphic mountains, as there are a LOT of Cinder Cones intermingled with the White Mountains, but their composition looks very gnarled.
