Named after one of the first Fjord stallions imported to the US (Skolvfast). A grey dun (grulla) stallion who is part of that Horse Art RPG and, unfortunately, is not real. Alas!
I have come to the conclusion that there is no real right way to draw a harness because just about every one is different.

They're not common here either. The mare that I own was actually one of the first ones I met (it makes me sound like I have no resolve, there were three at the auction, first Fjords I'd seen in person and I went home with one). Agreed! The mane is definitely cool. It stays erect until it gets about eight inches long (our mare's is kindof flopped over, though I plan on trimming it up again) and the dual tone is just fascinating.
Oh completly! The one Fjord I had, Major, got a great home recently...but I'm finding I kinda miss him. I don't think I'm going to come across another Fjord in quite a few years! I'm going into Fjord withdrawal! No not really, but I would dive at the chance for another, I never even had Major for long enough that he needed his mane trimmed back to that classic mohawk. I loved running my hand up and down that mane though, it kept springing back to life. Even something so simple can be highly amusing!
Haha, I do the same thing with Kitt's mane! Well, I did before it started falling over that is. Definitely a unique, neat breed, though, that's for sure! Just curious, did he have a bit of a mule-ish nicker? Kitt's nicker sounds so much like a mule's it's quite funny. Since I haven't really met any other Fjords I don't know if it's just her or the breed in general.
ACTUALLY.
No...I had him for about 3 months, he was snatched up pretty fast and he was also outdoors most of the time. The time I DID spend with him though? He sounded a lot like Tony my draft horse. He nickered to when I had treats...but to be honest? And YES I did notice this because I had this same conversation, he had a nicker like a pony. I don't know what that means, but there you have it! xD Also though, it ought to be noted that out of the 73 I have right now and the 250 + I have had in the past, not one of them has been a donkey or a mule, but my neighbor has three and I love em to death!

I would bet he was snatched up pretty fast! Those that know what they are seem to be rather proud of them and those that don't are still struck by their looks and personality.
I haven't been around donkeys or mules enough to say much about them, though perhaps one of these days I will. I hear the good ones there's really no price to put on them.

Simple, but nice, i like it. It looks a lot like illustrations for older books, and somehow the drawing's simplicity and still proper detailing just goes all well with the setting: for me it looks really sort of "authentic". And he is a horse: even though i am a cat, i still got sort of sick of that just about every drawing here portraits either canines or felines apart from dragons. Good to see something different!
