I've been working on a children's book about Dinosaurs, depicting them in more accurate anatomy, and introducing kids to new ideas/theories on Dinosaurs. These are both subjects that a LOT of kids books just don't bother covering, they still draw the T-rex upright like back in the 50's (a pose that would have broken its tail).
Story is broken up over an entire series, covering a new Dinosaur each volume. It takes place in a Jurassic-Park style Dinosaur Zoo full of infant and teen Dinosaurs. The language used is simple and while the Dinosaurs species will be fully displayed, they are only referred to in simplistic terms. (Like T-Rex, and Raptor.)
Volume one introduces Archie the Archaeopteryx and the two infant T-rexes Doni and Bluth. It raises the theory of if T-rex was a hunter or a scavenger and becomes a common subject through the series, bringing up scenarios that allows kids to decide for themselves which of the who infants is more like "a real T-rex" to them. Whilst we know adult T-rexes did not have feathers covering their whole body, we still do not know if the same rule applies to infants. As such, Doni and Bluth are drawn with feathery downs over most of their body.
This volume is due for release by the end of May, but there could be unforeseen delays. You can follow the project as it develops here: http://www.zuperbuu.com/wp/novel-ra.....-its-donisaur/
Some volumes may cover more than one Dinosaur species.
Current line-up of Dinosaurs are: Stegosaurus, Iguanodon, Allosaurus, Baryonyx/Spinosaurus/Suchomimus (Three in one), Dilophosaurus, Styracosaurus, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Velociraptor/Deinonychus (Two in one) and Brachiosaurus. If you have suggestions for Dinosaurs, please feel free to comment them here.
Bluth and his thought-bubble were drawn in pencil, inked, scanned in and then coloured on the computer. The background is 100% digital.
