I've been toying with the idea of Den being a future version of Al; for a few reasons this kinda feels right to me, and I'm considering making it real? I drew a few intermediary stages for funsies to see what the road from Al to Den would look like. Knowing Al's penchant for trying new things, it wouldn't be a straight shot from one to the other, but he'd try out a few different looks along the way.
Still not sure if this is canon or not yet, but it's been fun to think about!

Less of a "switching" of genders, and more of a "letting go" of gender. It turns out the concept isn't all that important to Al, and as they become Den, it just stops being something that they hold themselves to. I mean, there's plenty of art of Al with a feminine body even now, so maybe it's not that surprising of an idea?
But yeah, Den usually does tend to present somewhere closer to the female side of things, physically!
