Aw, that's adorable. I love how happy they look and it's a really interesting idea. I've always liked the blend of magic and technology you've established in your world, and it really makes me wonder what kind of data Topaz is recording and what it could be used for.

I've always been a fan of settings that can mix the two well, not too much of one or the other and a certain realism taken to the magic aspects of it, Final Fantasy 7 was one of my first examples of what really clicked for me.
I remember the original genesis behind this idea was that Topaz would be interested in learning how things work, and that she would take readings to sort of figure it out, though I don't know if there was more to it than that.
While there's always the possibility of an accident, you don't get to be a Talwyn master without knowing how to manipulate water. ;)
