Also VT. Do they nibble your fingers? When I had tons of girls in my growout tanks they used to all nibble my fingers at feeding time.

Do you breed them? I used to breed Bettas, and it's an awesome, though sometimes work-intensive, experience.

Not yet. I thought about trying it. ^^ It would be interesting, but hard to find a good place for them cause i surely can not keep all, since my rule is: every (male) betta must have at least 30L of space for himself. xD and i don't have that much space in my apartment *laughs*

Yeah, that is a bit much. If the water's changed regularly , and you give some floating plant to enjoy, a male Betta will be quite happy with 1L of living space. It may seem rather cramped, but they're adapted to live in very tight quarters.

Even so, I always felt guilty keeping them in such small jars, so the males I opted to keep for myself usually got 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon jars to call home.

I could never put them in such a small jar. I mean.. okay they CAN live in a small space, but that doesn't mean they have to. that's like if being kept in a 1m² cell. I'd feel horrible for my fish.
my .. hm multi (some kinda thai flag-ish) has the whole lot of 56L for himself. (and 4 dwarf frogs ^^ ) I'd rather see them swimming around and being happy than just floating in the water and looking sad ._.
