Mages are an extraordinarily useful companion in an adventure. Their knowledge of spells and arcane lore is useful in both exploration and combat alike. And some of the most interesting spells serve all manner of unexpected purposes. So-called "Shrink" spells are some of the most unusually useful spells. Vastly reduced size can provide concealment or access to hidden or otherwise inaccessible areas. Judging by their location, it seems that Tarvash and Danathius are located in a dungeon and presumably on their way out.
But on the way back, they spied a treasure room with a blocked door and the mage reduced himself in size in order to gain access. But it would seem Tarvash is at present more interested in having a spot of amusement at his companion's expense...
