A fair distance from Rangy's apartment, nestled among the most recent development of Mirabeu, stands a two story house. Like most of the more opulent structures in the middle-of-nowhere town, the land lord rents and subdivides to fill i practically year long vacancy. As each of the house occupants battle with an always uneven blend of intrusion and isolation, Elain wiggles her way to a low-riding sofa propped right against her largest window sill. She reaches over a cadre of hardy plants to swing the windows outward, as the wind immediately buffets her fuzzy face and cools her beige-furred hands.
Wiggling her pink nose, she catches the faint aroma of pollen as it rides a breeze passing through the window. Elain sighs, knowing full well that a pleasant today will mean a meaner heat only a month from now. Still, for the moment, it's nice enough to rest your head and nap your heart away.
