Yogg'Sothoth has been summoned far more times then it was known to the authorities, let alone the public. One such incident occurred in the Middle Ages when a merciless warlord known as the Lord of the Black Land, along with his entourage, called upon the Outer God for a chance at a wish. A misconception about the Opener of the Way has always been that he was trying to push his own unknowable planes, especially considering how many times he was the reason for strange births through out history. That was never true. In a way, he had more in common with the Djinn of old, granting wishes to those he'd deem worthy while holding all of time and space together. The warlord stood his ground before the mind-twisting entity before him without even flinching. In fact he didn't really think much of him. He'd expected will shattering greatness given a perverse form by the world's crude and inferior capabilities. Instead all he saw were giant balls, pulsating and throbing in the air before him, like soup bubbles that rose up when he took baths as a child. Still, the ritual was completed properly and the wish had to be made before the magic users of the land felt the Outer God's presence. He demanded a suit of armor that would aid him in his world conquering campaign. He wanted to voice his true wish, but he knew that the God judged it's summoner and their wish. So better be safe the sorry and ask for something that would merely aid him in his quest. After all, the Entity might not look to fondly upon weaklings who seek shortcuts in life and deed.
After a short pause, the wish was granted, the Outer God was gone without a trace and the Warlord stood clad in glistening black, spiked armor that appeared as though it was forged from obsidian. He tested his new plate, ordering one of his subordinate to try and stab or slice at him. The blade shattered upon impact. The Warlord was beyond pleased and left the ancient cliff side shrine in high sprites..... After killing the unfortunate who tested the sturdiness of the armor of course. What he didn't know was that Yogg'Sothoth had judged him and found him more the lacking. So he did grant him his wish and gave him the impervious armor. Almost impervious. It's weakness was another mystical weapon of unknown origines, the so named "Sword of Evil's Strife".
On that day the warlord Mairon sealed his own fate, to be slain at the height of his victory and not be allowed to pass on to whatever life he'd earned for himself in the next.
