This one was made by beading the head, then the tail, then a whole mess of individual scales; then stitching them together. I substituted cheaper beads for some expensive ones called for in the pattern - a kit is (or was) available to make this guy that costs something like $250 if I recall. My version was much more pocketbook friendly. There are matching scale earrings, but I think they are way too much and I prefer to just wear small topaz earrings with this necklace.
