Just a little thing I'd toyed around with the past few days to try something different.
One day I'm in the dollar store and I'm walking through the stationary aisle and I see some fancy-ass twist-feed colored pencils and I'm like "It's been nearly twenty years since I used a colored pencil, hasn't it?" And so I bought a pack and figured I could do some pen sketches and try some traditional coloring.
The tools of the trade I used was a mechanical pencil, a couple ink pens from work, a 12 pack of Crayola colored pencils and a 18 pack of Crayola Twistables pencils.
In order I drew a Generic Ninetails Head, Roovie(Who's design I'd been toying around with for reasons), Doctor Robotnik(The 'Good' version from an episode of Sonic Underground.), A beefy boofy Mario bear(Who always seems to come out of a pen when I'm doing bored doodles), a Sonic head(By this point the original pen had burned out and I switched over to a more 'Juicy' pen which is why the lines are so thick and wibbly.) and a partially bara-ized Storm the Albatross.
I had a lot of fun with this. It was a surprisingly big load off my shoulders to be able to draw, line and color something without having to switch off to the PC. If only twelve year old me could see how much better Future Me is at utilizing the same tools...
I may want to do more drawings like this. Though I may want to invest in better pencils if I do. I don't know if it was just these pencils, but they were hella-dry! Had to press hard for the color t begin to show up.
