Here's where that degree in grovelling comes in handy...

I talk to myself in the voices of the different characters when I'm composing their dialog lines. It helps. I can ensure that Fred's manner of speech is very different from Koz's, or that there are some phrases that Songween would not use because she isn't as high falutin' as a person in her position should be.
One description I came up with, regarding Fred and Jinjur's English accents, is that "while Fred's sounded natural, Jinjur's sounded forced and affected, like poisoned water running over gravel." I've based Jinjur's voice on that of Zira from "The Lion Guard." (Zira in the sequel "Simba's Pride" was voiced by a different actress. The one in "Lions of the Outlands" has more of an arrogant sneer in her voice.)
Lucretia Kruger's voice is a cross between Bebe Neuwirth's "Lilith Sternin" and Carol Burnet's "Queen Elizabeth"--staccato and emotionless with a nasal, snobbish accent. Not quite British because she's South African, but desperately trying not to sound South African.
Trader Horn sounds like Paul Hogan, sort of, at least in his Crocodile Dundee incarnation.
Fred's voice is smooth, soft, and smoky. I had a lot of trouble finding a good match, but I'm using Richard Hammond from "Top Gear" as a base--when he's in his narrator mode--with a dash of Ferb from "Phineas and Ferb."
Kathy, of course, is me, but for your intents, she sounds like Wendy Corduroy from "Gravity Falls." Sandy sounds like Penny from "The Big Bang Theory."

I guess all writers do that. In my "Marooned on Tashoo" story I've posted to my page, one character, Mu-Naka, sounds like James Earl Jones in my head whenever I write his lines. Of course, the male protagonist sounds like me since we're both from south Georgia. But, most of the voices are voices I created in my head, even the female voices.
Yeah. I saw that on DA. I was gonna wait a couple of days to wish you an early Happy Birthday but, since you brought it up, I'll go ahead and do it now. A very Happy early birthday to you. (I'll probably do it again on DA closer to your birthday but, what the hay. The earlier the better. Right?)
