So here's a story for you, with visual excellence courtesy of

When I was around 6 years old, and long before I knew of the word Vorephilia, I never understood why being eaten alive was dangerous. I adore(d) The Lion King, but I felt bad for the hyenas would just wanted to eat Simba. Yep. That's all they wanted.
I thought why can't Simba become their friends, and be eaten by them for a while. Then they won't go hungry! Boy oh boy I was naive. So here's my modern Fruit Lion, giving Banzai a belly full of Simba, completely unaware of the harm I just caused the young lion ^^;

In my case, I blame Sylvester & Tweety. And all the other cartoons where the prey would either strike a match and look around, or just walk / run right back out the way they came.
One of those aforementioned toons that did that gag, BTW, was the Timon & Pumbaa TV series. So as far as I'm concerned, endo-vore is a thing in the Pride Lands, and it is entirely possible that Shenzi, Banzai and Ed really did just want the cubs inside them.
Simba: "But dad, don't we eat the antelope?"
Mufasa: "Yes, but let me explain. When. . . Umm. . . When we die, our bodies. . . Become the grass. . . And the antel -- I can't do this. She's fine, it was the same antelope you saw me eat yesterday. But don't tell your mom -- she thinks it's cheating."
