Well, it's more a "least effort" kind of thing. Why put up a huge fight when the hero is going to inevtably win anyway, either because of how overpowered he is, or because the villain cares more about being able to gloat than win.

Thats a trick question, it's nearly impossible to not work for one. Being a sociopath is almost a prerequisite to be able to go beyond assistant manager.
