"Well, there's the story," concluded Dingodile.
He stirred a bit to get at ease. His body had finished absorbing the fire and growing, and he was now so gargantuan he dwarfed the jungle's canopy even sitting, and was now holding the whole group, now flea-sized for him, in his hand.
"And... And you feel well?" asked hesitantly Pinstripe.
"Well?! Mate, I feel GREAT!" replied Dingodile while flexing a gargantuan biceps. "In every sense possible!"
"Good, good," stammered weakly the potoroo. "And... You think you can return to normal? Just asking."
"Actually, yeah. I can "purge" myself of all that fire energy. Or it'll do it all alone in the course of the next hours, I can feel it. But I'm gonna let it do it like that. I'm not in a hurry to shrink back!"
And the giant uplifted cracked up laughing.
They and the other Commandos were torn between the relief that their comrade was okay, and the shock of what happened to him.
Aku Aku was reeling.
He was shocked by what happened.
How is it possible?! Py-Ro NEVER manifested something like that! None of them did!
...
Although, they didn't have bodies already then, maybe that's the difference.
The vision Crash had in his sleep, and that he just told him ("Why didn't you tell me earlier?!", that got for answer a shrug that meant "I thought it was just a dream."), didn't help.
If it got true for Dingodile... could it become true for all of them?! But how would it be possible for the elements without Elemental?! And that unknown Bandicoot?! WHAT TO DO?!
"Er," advanced Coco, "Maybe you should stop for today? The night's almost here, and you've got enough food for a week..."
"Why? There's still half-an-hour of day left, more or less, I can easily make up for the time lost with that!"
"But you're going to be seen by the entire region!"
"Doesn't Aku Aku have an illusion or something to hide me?"
"Er, actually yes, I think I can," stammered the spirit, relieved to have something to distract him from his thoughts.
He cast his illusion.
And then the hybrid got up, and walked.
And indeed, even though he walked leisurely, it was more than enough to make up the time.
At the stopping point, he put down softly the others, who began setting up camp, and he laid down, allowing Aku Aku to stop the illusion, since he was now hidden by the vegetation.
Dinner calmed a bit the minds (the giant didn't eat, he didn't feel hungry in spite of the growth), and everyone went in the tents and fell in sweet sleep.
Luckily for them, Dingodile didn't snore.
The Bandicoots had trouble going to sleep...
They eventually managed by comforting themselves with the fact that if necessary, Crash could still easily beat Dingodile.
