"Beach bunny" is surf slang for "girlfriend who doesn't surf but hangs at beach looking pretty and cheering her surfer boyfriend".

I tried to get as much surf slang into that panel dialog as I could remember. Being a native Floridian, I did grow up at the beach.

Oh, yeah. I remembered about the Welsh Rabbit (Rarebit) pun from the previous incarnation. I guess I thought that Laura Anne used that name because her Welsh name was difficult at best for English speakers to pronounce properly. Obviously, since you're the creator, I was wrong.

As for the beach bunny comment, being as old as I am, I've heard that phrase many times myself. I'm from the coastal area of Georgia so, while it isn't a common phrase here (due to very small wave inappropriate for proper surfing), it's used for those girls here who go to the beach but don't swim. I thought Meredith, being a skunk, claiming to be a beach "bunny" was a funny little joke since she was talking to Laura Anne. Thanks for clarifying, though.
