Well, it did look a little squished together, but it looks a little neater than before. The only parts I had a little difficulty in reading were the parts with a transparent bubble.

hmmm...i might have to make those bubbles less transparent

This set has been great so far. I liked the previous style attempt. The eyes actually are what I noticed. Particularly from the second to last panel.

As for those speech bubbles. I think yes, you may want to reduce the transparency level. Bring it to about say 50% to 66%. Experiment a bit. Heh. Then from there, if you want to make a thought bubble, maybe changing the shape of the bubble will add to the effect. You could blur the edges or smear them around a bit, adding to that misty intangent feel to it like it's thought or something, I dunno.

And I really love the background work Sun Wing has done for this page! Font also looks nice, but it may become illegible if the image is shrunk, so if you continue to use it, keep at this visual size for the comic.
