In the next morning, at the Native American Camp, the Southern Light Six prepared everything for their departure to Minnesota’s City. Rhodey and Kate boarded the sled.
“Prepare yourselves because this is gonna be an adrenaline-full journey!” Denahi said to them, then winked an eye.
“May the spirits guide you on your way.” Shak Nool said to all them.
And the Wolfskies began to run, pulling the sled. Rhodey and Kate looked back at the village, which grew smaller and smaller as they got far from it. After a while, they were already dashing across the frozen lands near Minnesota. Everything was ok… until a blizzard started and blocked their sight.
“Oh, great. Now what are we going to do?” Luk said.
“We could just wait for the blizzard to stop.” Kula recommended.
“And how are we gonna know when it’s gonna end?” Tamarak said.”
“Sorry, guys. A small delay has presented in our way.” Denahi said to the couple.
“This cannot be!” Rhodey said.
“Can’t you use your instincts or any other senses to get us out of this?” Kate asked.
“I don’t know, but… heads up everyone!” Hokani said. “I sniff something… And it’s… pretty smelly. Like athlete’s foot, but in a BIG way!”
“And do I hear growls?” Atka said.
“Wait… Smelly big feet? Growls? Guys, don’t tell me it is…” Denahi said.
The group turned to the side where the stench and the noises came from. And they couldn’t believe their eyes. A YETI! It roared loudly. He seemed to dislike dogs and wolves! He began to chase them, so the Southern Light Six tried to escape running as fast as they could, carrying Rhodey and Kate on the sled.
The Yeti attacked them by grabbing a stump and using it as a giant club! The Wolfskies Team evaded the attacks swiftly, but the stump almost hit the couple. The monster also threw stones at them, and they flew past the sled. Some of them hit the Wolfskies. It hurt, of course, but they had no other option than hold on.
They kept running until they lost sight of the Yeti, and ended on a wooden bridge in the middle of a gorge. For a moment they believed they were safe. Until the Yeti burst out of the woods and followed them to the bridge! As expected, with all that weight, the bridge snapped in half, and the mouse, the cat, the Wolfskies and the Yeti fell into the cold river.
Their sled and its reins had also shattered to pieces with the fall, freeing the Southern Light Six. All of them quickly used the remains of the bridge to save their lives; Rhodey and Kate used one of the planks as a small boat, and the Wolfskies used the rest of them like water skis.
However, they were not safe yet. The Yeti was aboard the main part of the broken sled, like if he were on a surf board! And the worst part was that they were heading onto a waterfall!
Then Kate saw the broken reins of the sled floating towards them, and said:
“Guys, the reins! Grab them and throw them to us! I have an idea!”
Tamarak managed to grab the reins with her teeth as they floated past her. Then the Southern Light Six passed the reins to each other until they threw them to Rhodey and Kate.
“Rhodey, tie the reins to you!” Kate said to him
“What are you planning?”
“Just do it!”
So Rhodey obeyed her.
“I’m gonna jump to the Yeti’s face to distract him. While I do it, and I want you to tangle it all over his legs and body, ok?”
“Um… OK.”
“Ready? One… two… three!”
Then she jumped onto the Yeti’s face, scratching it. Rhodey also jumped onto the Yeti’s body and began to crawl around its body, trapping the monster between the reins. As he passed near his feet, he sniffed and said:
“Ew, this is definitely a cheese I wouldn’t nibble.”
Once the reins were perfectly tied, Rhodey jumped back to the plank where he and Kate were standing on at first. Furious, the Yeti grabbed Kate and threw her into the cold water.
“KATE!” Rhodey yelled.
Luckily, Denahi was passing near where she landed and picked up her from the water with his teeth. She was nearly frozen and unconscious.
Then the Yeti, unable to move because of being trapped between the reins, fell into the water and the current took it.
The group was about to fall by the waterfall, but they hurried to jump to the riverside, while the Yeti fell, while roaring. Much to the surprise of all, it was not a tall waterfall, and the Yeti fell over outgoing rocks. But the vibration caused some nearby rocks to crumble down, and on the Yeti’s head fell a… medium stone. But it was hard enough to knock him out.
“Is he a goner?” Kula asked.
“Of course not! But we better leave before he wakes up.” Luk said.
“Kate!” Rhodey cried.
Denahi put her on the ground.
“Kate, are you ok?” Rhodey asked, as he approached her.
Suddenly, Kate began to cough, opened her eyes and stood up.
“Yes, my love.”
“Well, now we lost our sled. It was our most precious belonging. And it belonged to our parents.” Denahi said. “Now how are we gonna get you safely to Minnesota?”
“What are you talking about? You’re Wolfskies, a mix of two of the most powerful canids ever! You are unique species! And you know what they say. Your uniqueness makes you strong.”
“Our love is so strong and unique, that we were capable of doing crazy things to conserve it! Now it’s your turn to show what you’ve got!”
Denahi, Atka, Luk, Hokani, Tamarak and Kula realized that Rhodey and Kate were right. With or without any sled, they must move on. So Denahi carried the couple on his back, and just like the strong team they were, the Southern Light Six dashed across the forest and the tundra, about to make it to Minnesota.
