Look around on the internet for images of a 1955 Ford F-250 Pickup. You'll see some with this star-like ornament in the grille while others have a V-8 badge like the one on this F-100:

If anybody out there can explain the differences, enquiring minds want to know.

I don't know if the trucks were the same, but one way to distinguish a Canadian-made ford from an American one was the star in the grille. A Canadian Ford was called a "Meteor" and a Canadian Mercury was a "Monarch". GM and Chrysler also had uniquely Canadian versions of some of their American offerings. In Canada a Chevy Nova was called an "Acadian" while the Pontiac Bonneville was a "Parisienne", just to name a few. Usually a subtle trim change (like the star) was the only difference between the two country's versions.
