I've wondered about that, too. Because there's no one artistic enough to create a new one? Think of the gray rainbow.

This was mentioned several pages back. Basically, the idea is that a lion was defeated in battle (beheaded, actually), and the lion on the flag is more or less a deterrent to lions

It's Songween's ducal ensign. The flag of Rackenroon is ivory with a scarlet bend. The Duchess puts her personal emblem on it. Since she beheaded the king of the lions, she uses a decapitated lion as her emblem.

That it also looks like a "no lions" sign is not entirely coincidental.

The name appeared in the "tragic torpedo accident" strip.

Well, being a southerner from the DEEP south, the way I would have pronounced Makayla would have come out something similar to McHayla. I'll have to go back and read that strip. Of course, I plan on going back and reading the whole comic until I catch up again.

It's Somgween's personal banner. The flag of Rackenroon is the scarlet bend on an ivory background. Because Songween killed Iarbas, King of the Lions, she put a lion's head on her banner.
